Re-visiting my skills and a new project idea

Due to the demand of my freelance projects I haven't spend much time doing any 3D work. Since I have managed to get some free time as of late and when I have a moment from my website designing I have being getting back into doing  some 3D work.

Its being fun, since I haven't kept my skills up in the last year, to have some time to work on this kind of stuff again. I have had to re-teach myself again some of the basics but its being pretty surprising to me how I have managed to get back into the habit of work on this kind of stuff again and re-taught myself so quickly. I am looking forward to keep this project alive over the coming year. In between other projects.

Now onto my project talk. Everyone that knows me knows I get in a really bad habit of creating extravagant enviroments. I am also the type of person that tends to go for more moody environments. In the recent months a topic has come up about what is my dream home? Its something that me and my partner often talk about. It's also funny about our different ideas about what we class as our home. Since me and my partner are quite often on the opposite tracks when it comes to our lives it's also the same when it comes to our ideas on home. He is a very technical minded person. Quite often opting for the logical reason for thing. Simply put everything needs a purpose. I am a creative. Always looking into the beauty of the purposeless and appreciating what they are. Simply put I like things if they look pretty. Ohhh,,, Shiny....

Back on track about the project all these things mad me think what was my idea of a home. I know when I am thinking about environmental design I quite often I opt for very English style homes. The ones with the old library and massive fireplaces. I love the detailing in a home and a big sense of history. These walls around me not only show my home but the character of who we are. That has led me thinking how would I really show my character through my home.

The idea towards this project for me is to design a creative's home. A place where any artist would love the idea of visiting. A place with a very open atmosphere so in each room you are in you can't help to be inspired. This project I have in mind goes past just the building of a room like my last projects, but onto building and entire house with rooms and the external environment. I have designed this so I can start looking more heavily into different rendering techniques but also thinking about lighting which will be a major factor.

This past week I have being sourcing reference material and getting an idea about the layout that I want on the house. I quite like the idea of trying to create a house around an environment and having nearly all walls of the house made out of glass. Something a lot brighter than my previous work.

Here is an idea of some of the stuff I have looked into by finding some images that I have sourced from the internet.

Also I have being doing a bit of 3D planing to design the layout and maybe an idea of what direction I want to go in before I start concepts of my idea.

I haven't got much solid work done yet 3D wise since I am a bit rusty but it's a start into the direction I am thinking on heading. I am looking heavily into more natural lighting so it defiantly will challenge me to learn and build on my lighting techniques. I will keep updated and post some concepts soon.

Also as I have said in my earlier posts I do have my website in the works at the moment too. I am starting to design my corporate identity in a way. Heavily looking into website design, functionality and content so I can build a website that will get my purpose across and attract clients. It's being interesting analysing the websites I have seen and checking out some of the content. People sure do have a very fantastic way of coming up with some simple but intuitive ideas.
